But
he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the
punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.
We
all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the
LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. (NIV)
Perhaps
it is too early for an Easter thought. It
is two weeks away. But, I
couldn’t get this out of my mind – the piercing, the crushing, the
punishment – all for us. Our sins
are all forgotten and our peace with God is assured.
We no longer have to worry about Hell or His anger. We have an eternal agreement of favor. We are walking on the path of the redeemed.
All things that are truly important in life are taken care of by our
Savior. Jesus has blessed us with
all spiritual blessings in the heavenlies.
By this God/man’s death we have life refreshing and abundant.
The payment for our sin was made and much, much more.
Can you believe it? This one
enormous sacrifice threw open the doors of heaven to us.
We
don’t even have to hesitate at the gate, we can feel at ease walking right up
to the Throne of God. No need to
knock, the welcome mat is out for family members of the King.
Come on in. Face to face
with a creator – “The Creator” of all that is good.
Made Breathless by His beauty and majesty.
Awed by His glory. Transfixed,
mesmerized, and captivated by His love. There
is a never-ending bond between Savior and saint.
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. A
sinful person, completely forgiven, communing (hanging out) with his God - does
it get any better than this? Heavens,
no!
Face to face with the Almighty, all because Jesus died on the Cross for our sins. Wow!
